About This Tour
Himalayan Social Journey runs this 2-hour trip from Kathmandu around a 1-hour scenic flight along the Himalaya. The flight needs good weather. If it is cancelled for poor weather you are offered a different date, and the airport transfer charge in that case is paid by you, not the operator. The Route Day by Day
This is a one-day trip, so the itinerary runs in stages rather than days. The heights below come from the listing and from researched facts about the mountain.

From Hotel to Himalaya and Back
You start at your Kathmandu hotel if you selected pickup, or at the Domestic Terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport. After check-in the plane lifts off for the 1-hour flight along the Himalaya. This listing names Lhotse, Makalu and Nuptse in view alongside Mount Everest, which it gives as 8,848 m. The 2020 joint Nepal and China survey measured 8,848.86 m (29,031.7 ft). Alpine Adventure Club's Everest mountain flight also names Langtang Lirung, Gauri Shankar, Melungtse and Cho Oyu. The aircraft does not land anywhere. It turns and returns to Kathmandu, where you are dropped at your hotel.
The whole thing takes 2 hours in this listing. Check-in times are not stated here, so confirm when you book. Views are never guaranteed, since clouds and haze can block the mountains on any given morning.

Who This Trip Rules Out
A 2-hour flight suits many travelers, but the listing draws clear lines. Here is who should book something else.
The Stated Limits
Pregnant women are advised against this trip. No minimum age and no fitness level are stated. The group runs to 16 to 30 travelers depending on aircraft capacity, so there is no private option at this price. The flight needs good weather, and a weather cancellation means a different date, with the airport transfer paid by you. The listing is ambiguous on wheelchair access, so ask before booking.
If you want to stand on the ground in the Everest region, this trip will not do it. The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Landing at $1,600 per person plans landings at base camp and Kala Patthar when the weather allows. The Everest View Hotel Helicopter Breakfast at $1,352 per person adds breakfast at 3,880 m. For walking, the 8-day Everest Panorama Trek at $1,225 per person reaches Tengboche at 3,870 m on foot. Browse the full range of Everest tours before deciding.
Altitude, Season and Paperwork
You never leave the plane, so altitude sickness is not the issue it is on the trail. Weather, timing and your passport still matter.
Season and Weather
The Everest region has a spring season of March to May and an autumn season of September to November. Monsoon runs June to August with most of Nepal's annual rain, and December to February is the off-season. Mountain flights need clear mornings, and the listing names no flying season.
If the weather cancels your flight, the operator offers a different date, so keep a spare morning in your Kathmandu plan rather than booking it for your departure day.
Altitude and the Cabin
The plane passes Everest, listed at 8,848 m, but it does not land, so there is no acclimatisation to plan. That is the whole appeal next to treks that need days of gain. Climbers on foot start from base camps above 5,000 m (16,404 ft) and acclimatise slowly, advice that does not apply here.
Paperwork
No permits are needed for this trip, and the listing names none. Bring your passport and a charged smartphone. Food, alcohol and explosive substances are not allowed on board.
A Nepal visa is your own affair, arranged before or on arrival in the country, and the listing says nothing about it. Travel insurance is not mentioned in the listing. If you plan to add a trek or a helicopter landing later, check that your policy covers high altitude and helicopter evacuation, since those trips run at 3,870 m and above.

Pros and Cons
A straight read of what this listing does well and where it falls short.
What we genuinely like
- The lowest price in the catalog at $100 per person for 2 hours
- Guaranteed window seat for every passenger
- Hotel pickup and drop-off and a packed meal are included
- Free cancellation 24 hours before departure and reserve now, pay later
- 4.6 from 284 reviews on GetYourGuide verified bookings

The honest downsides
- A weather cancellation means rebooking to a different date, and the airport transfer that day is paid by you
- No landing, no ground time and no control over clouds on the day
- Ambiguous wheelchair access, the listing says both accessible and not suitable, so ask first
- Group of 16 to 30 travelers depending on aircraft capacity, no private option
- The listing states no exact departure or check-in time in advance
Who it's NOT for: Not for pregnant women, and not for anyone who wants to set foot in the Everest region rather than see it from a plane window.
